Right across the street from the beach and the Pacific Ocean, The Sea Chest offers an evolving menu of the freshest available fish. Daily offerings are listed on a chalk board near the entrance. Specialty of the house is a fabulous Cioppino.
Fish is broiled in an open kitchen that is fronted by a counter at which diners can sit and watch the amazing ballet of a team of cooks as they prepare an astounding array of appetizers and entrees. If the counter is full, try to sit in the lively front room, where the action is frantic and the ocean view is spectacular. If you’re looking for a quieter experience, ask for a table in the back. The Sea Chest does not take reservations or credit cards.
Cambria lies on the Central Coast of California, about half way between Los Angeles and San Francisco. The quaint town and The Sea Chest make Cambria a very satisfying stop over on a trip north or south for those who have the time and want to avoid the high-speed highways further inland. Cambria also is a wonderful destination for a long weekend get-away.
