Always a generous selection of fish, always wild caught and never farm raised. Within easy walking distance of the War Memorial Opera House, this is our favorite place to dine before a performance of the San Francisco Opera.
The menu features five to seven fish dishes with a choice of sauces and some of the best French fries anywhere west of Nathan’s Coney Island. Other fish dishes come with creative mushroom toppings, rice and salad and other interesting accompaniments. Seasonal fish offerings can include sturgeon, mackerel, yellow fin tuna, Pacific blue nose tuna, black cod, sword fish, salmon, rex sole, petrale sole, and more. The menu changes daily to take advantage of what’s fresh out of the water.
For starters there are such treats as oysters on the half shell, a quail salad, and a beet salad with grilled goat cheese.
There is a limited offering of beef, pork and chicken entrées. But watch the plates passing en route to other tables and it’s clear, this is a fish house.
