Bice is a modern Italian restaurant, as opposed to the more classical Italian up the street at de’ Medici Cucina, which also is recommended atLarrys.com.
As with so many modern restaurants, Bice is a noisy room. The food and service, however, are very good. Bice’s signature cheese bar offers an excellent selection of cheeses, which can be ordered with salumi for a first course or stand alone for dessert.
Four of us had three different appetizers, four different entrees, and two different desserts and all were on the mark. For me it was an excellent octopus appetizer and branzino for the entrée. The menu changes weekly and features a very good variety of pastas and fish.
The selection of wines by the glass, half bottle and bottle also is very good.
Dine at Bice one night and de’ Medici another night and you’ll understand the difference between modern and classical Italian restaurants. The two restaurants are just 3 blocks apart and you can’t go wrong at either one. It all comes down to your personal preference on any given night.
